FAQs
What’s the Ideal Bag Size for Gym vs Daily Commuting?
The answer to this question really comes down to what you take with you to the gym and what you take on a typical commute. It’s best to start with these questions: What gear do you need to take to the gym? Is it always the same lightweight gear or do you also need to take additional gear like a yoga mat, swimming gear, towels, racquets, etc.? If you’re someone who does a wide range of workouts at the gym, then you’re going to want a sizable backpack or a large training sports bag.
Generally, for daily commuting, training sports bags may be too large and cumbersome to deal with. Often, we’d recommend opting for a backpack with several compartments or pocketed sections for your items. If you need to bring a number of heavier items with you for work (such as a bulkier laptop), then you’ll not just want a larger-sized backpack, but one that includes additional padding and at the bottom so as to not wear out the base of your bag.
Take some time to properly take stock of what your gym and daily commute needs are and select a bag accordingly.
How Do I Organise Gym Gear in a Multi-Compartment Sports Bag?
Organising your gym gear and ensuring you have all your goods sorted makes for a breezy gym experience. Of course, it’s up to you how to organise your gear, but here are some helpful tips to get started.
Assign functions: A good starting point is to take stock of how many compartments your sports bag has and to assign functions to each accordingly. For example, the main compartment could be devoted to your bulkier items such as your main training and gym gear and towel while another compartment can be set for your shoes and any side pockets are where you could include protein bars or place toiletries and smaller accessories.
Match gear logically: Your gear should also be arranged with some clear logic. Perhaps clean gear is kept in the main compartment while used clothing is placed in a plastic bag and slotted into a different compartment. You certainly don’t want wet or sweaty gear coming into contact with your dry items.
Make use of pouches, plastic bags, etc: Following on from matching gear logically, you’ll want to make sure you have the necessary items for separating gear even more effectively. This allows you to better organise clean and dirty clothes, group deodorants and toiletries, secure chargers and wearable tech, and so on.
Provide quick access for smaller essentials: If your bag sports a compact outer zip pocket, this is a great place to put the key items you need to get into the gym. These can include your gym pass or fob, headphones or earbuds, lock and/or keys for locker access, hand sanitiser, lip balm, hair ties, etc.
What Makes a Backpack Good for Both Function and Fashion?
When it comes to matching function with fashion, you’ll want to look for backpacks that sport durable materials with design tones that are typically more neutral (think black, grey, beige, etc.) for general fashionability - especially if you intend to use the backpack for work, as well.
Of course, if you’re looking for a fashionable look that’s purposefully more eye-catching, we also have an extensive range of backpacks that come in colours such as green, blue, olive, teal, etc. Opting for these colours often works best when matched with clothing that also embraces a range of brighter tones or, conversely, darker colours that greatly contrast to make your backpack pop.
Our backpacks, regardless of style, are intended for functionality that’s good for gym workouts and outdoor activities. As such, they all sport levels of durability that make them a good functional companion to your daily exercises.
Don’t forget to take your local climate into account when choosing. For example, if you live in an area with more rainfall, you should look into backpacks with water-resistant properties or materials. Conversely, if you live in a more sun-drenched area, consider a backpack with better UV resistance.
Does PUMA Offer Bags with Separate Shoe Compartments?
Yes, we do.
In our range, you’ll find plenty of backpacks and training sports bags that feature multiple compartments and internal dividers that allow you to easily organise your gear. This, of course, includes your shoes. Some include internal compartments where shoes can be placed while others have an external mesh compartment for your shoes.
If you love running or working out in the great outdoors, a bag with an external shoe compartment is a great option, especially if you end up working out in the rain or other muddy conditions. The bags featuring internal compartments are a solid option if you work out in the gym or want to use your bag for both work and workouts.
